The Roebling Chapter is the New York/New Jersey regional chapter of the national Society for Industrial Archeology. The Chapter promotes the study of the physical survivals of our area's technological and industrial past. To learn more, see our Bylaws Our activities include an annual meeting in January, a orn roast in the late summer, a Symposium in the fall, and field trips to sites of interest year round. Recent trips have included descending into the caissons of Pier 57 in Manhattan and touring the abandoned factory site at Feltville, NJ. Since 2003, the Roebling Chapter has presented the “John Augustus Roebling Award for Contributions to Industrial Archeology” in recognition of an individual, group, or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to documenting or preserving the industrial heritage of the greater New York/New Jersey area.
